Trust me (haha), that's the first thing I'll tackle!
Short story, long...
I just got my Stevens running this year and there aren't too many fast or loud boats around my area. I've been on a local lake every weekend all summer long. Have met a ton of people and made some good friends. Tried to get on the good side of the locals and the law at the ramp and on the lake, even towed one of the Harbor Masters in when his boat broke.
Last weekend when I got to the lake around 8:30am, this Harbor Master I hadn't met asks me to pull to the side so we could "chat".
he walks around my boat and asks if there's water injection on the exhaust which I point right out...then he starts to get to the point.
There was no chatting, it was all listening (by me). He went on to tell me that "everyone on the lake is pissed at me and my boat"...what I say??? He's getting 4-5 phone calls a weekend, the people are so pissed they're calling the Environmental Police and the State Police on "me and my boat"...what I say??. They are even bringing up "me and my boat" at the town meetings...again, what I say???
What...he say's "you can't come out here at 8:00 with this f'in boat, you're waking everyone up!...come back at 10, come back in the afternoon!"
He says the townies are even working on gettin a noise ordinance on the lake now.:(
As he's walking away he turns and says "but I love your f'in boat, have you seen that yellow Donsi out here" .
Sooo much for that nice flat morning water!

I Have A couple of folks on the block who Would hassle me every time I would tune or Break in a motor. For a while there it was like a break-in a month.
But I always did it in the afternoon 3-5 ish and I would still The lady down the street Asking 5 min into a cam break-in "How Long is this gonna take ETC,ETC"
I was always pretty cordial and not wanting to make trouble explain what was going on yadda yadda.
Well after The city code people showed up at my house like 5 times in 4 weeks ,
I Got fed up and the kid down the street asked me to set up a motor for him. 390/ 60 out 12.75:1/Police enterceptor heads 4200 Stall converter 72 F250, For the first 3 weeks, Headers only, After that Lrg primary headers into 3.5 Inch exhaust 4 inch flowmasters.
He would leave for work @5 AM. I Would guess about a high 12 sec Car.
I loved it.
Truck is now gone but the motor is on a stand in his garage, I'm trying to talk him into a flat.
PS: You got my VOTE

I think we've all experienced problems like that. Having guys walk up to you as your running the boat in the driveway before going out the first time of the season and saying "I don't know who you think you are but, we're not going to have this turn into some sort of "hot rod" neighborhood!" Dealing with the cops when they show up and say "Hey I just had to let you know that someone complained but, between 7:00 am and 10:00, you can do pretty much what you need to." and then BSing with them for half an hour about boat. Can't we all just get along? ;)

That is just pure jealous behavior on their part, some people can`t stand it when other people are enjoying themselves. Sorry that your having problems with THOSE people.
Have you thought about external mufflers, it could help, it would rob a little performance
but it will help get the possey off your backs! 61SCHIADA
Terrible toy

I was spoiled for many years living on a street with only three houses. On either side of that house were neighbors who desert raced dirt bikes. Needless to say they enjoyed all my toys.
Then I moved. The police have now been out four times. Someone, and they won't tell you who, complains every time I run my race car. I limit the running time to a minimum and to afternoons. Most of the running is at idle to check for leaks, timing, dry sump tank level, etc. Only a couple of times did I briefly put it on the converter to check stall. As a last resort I started using fans and ran the car inside the shop.
Still got complaints. When I pointed out to the police all the steps I was taking to be a "good neighbor" they said the hour was not the issue, I was disturbing the peace. The officers were not amused when I said "well hell I'll run the thing at two in the morning then".
I don't blame the police, they are just doing their duty. What is wrong is the double standard applied to us (I'll call us hot rodders) and those running weed whackers at day break or wood cutting machines (I have a neighbor with a wood shop and planers are loud). So, guess I'll just have to be an outlaw. There is no way I'm going to tow some considerable distance without a pre race checkout.

At this point, I'm hitting the lake after 10am, so we'll see how that goes.
Plus I have a lot of weekend car events I over the next couple of months, so I won't be at the lake 3 and 4 times a week, so that'll probably help also for this year.
I'll see how it goes next year, but I need to find a few other places to go around me so I can spread the joy and not overstay my welcome on one lake all at once!:D
If they think my boat is bad, they should really be impressed when my buddy Ken (Poncho) gets his boat back on the water...they'll welcome me back with open arms!! haha...yea, right!!!
