Hi, I'm just looking arround testing the water before I commit to a v-drive. I work at a marine dealer and we have a v-drive that came in and was shrink wraped and left for 2 years. They are in the process of a sherifs auction on it. The guy only owes 250$ but is now where to be found so I can pick it up for what he owes + new registration. I was told it had a hemi in it wich is long gone but I did cut a hole it the shrink wrap to see the interier is gone but the drivetrain looks to be intact. So at this time I'm wondering at a minimum what it would cost to repower the thing.

Can you get this baby for less than 850.00? Ha Ha.

Welcome, first of all we need "info" on the boat(condition of hull and hardware) and what it is, no way can we take a guess on what it would cost at this time, pics would be a great help!..

"Sure, $849!" "ten billion dollars!" My answer is based on your great input of information. (answer was adjusted for inflation)

I will cut some more wrap off and get some pictures I think the owner has another weak to claim it so I can't cut it all off. I know there is no way to give a estimate or value without seeing something so I will get as much info as possible. I don't even know who made it, I couldn't find a vin #. Thanks

I've got to finish a transome job on my bass boat and find a outboard for my malibu so if it is going to be too costly or over my head it will probubly end up here on the clasifieds.

I'm gonna take one hell of a wild guess at this, but I'm thinking it's somewhere around this area somewhere!.. "Montgomery MN"...:D

can you post them on photobucket with the others? If you can then you just click on the directlink button on the photobucket page then you click on the add photo button here. Make sure you remove the http:// from picture box and then paste the link from photobucket in and there it is.

ok.... instead of all of that... look at the second button under the picture where it says direct link. double click that and then come back and edit your post. Highlight everything after the IMG] and before the [/IMG and then past that box in there. it should look like this: (not part of paste)http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp89/chetolson/Aug27_0006-1.jpg

Wow I got it. Thank you, if I had any hair left I would have pulled it all out. I guess I should stick to being a mechanic. So I didn't get any pics of the interier but there isn't much there. I still don't know for sure but from other pics here I would say it looks like a rayson I think?http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp89/chetolson/Aug27_0005.jpg

not sure what it is. I'd say mid to late 60s. Get a good pic of that v-drive and post that up. Also shoot a shot of the stringers and steering set up. I'm pretty sure all the underwater gear is going to be brass so best as a lower speed play toy/ski boat. The exhaust looks like it had a small block in it. Very small ports on that transum.

By lower speed I mean 50s or so.

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp89/chetolson/Aug27_0004.jpgThanks again for your help, it's nice to see someone else from the "north". I will get better pics but I'm trying not to get my hopes up, it's not mine yet the sherif has the info and should be back to us soon. I just bugged the boss enough today to get the wrap off. Is there any books on set up, I look at this and have no idea what is there and what should be.

books I don't know about. But do a search on this site and there is a wealth of knowlege. Art, George, Don and the others will let you know what you have and what you'll need. A lot depends on what you want to do with it. Is it a neat old boat, you betcha. Will it be the next 8sec drag boat? Dubtful. You obviously love boats and it would be a classic if restored or at least reassembled and painted. But, it's going to take some work to make it whole again.

Hi, I'm Motate69 and I just found this site. Seeing all of the posted pictures, and reading the posts has really brought back some great memories for me. Having grown up in Southern California, back in a day when the hydro's raced in Long Beach, and you could walk across Lake Elsinore and never be in water over your head. Spent at lot of time boating up in Paso Robles at Lake Nacimiento when at night you looked forward to walking over to the little store, buying a nutty buddy, and walking out their back door to sit on the hillside that looked over the marina, listening to Jimi Hendrix, Aretha Franklin or the Beach Boys on the outside Jukebox. Oh, did I mention the block ice machine. That was the high point of a hot Paso summer afternoon, to walk over and for 50 cents buy a block of ice and sling it over your back to get it back to your metal ice chest. Those were the days.
Now, for the last 2 plus decades, I have lived land locked in Kansas. I still have our family boat, which I am now putting up for sale. I could really use some advice on which internet classified ad sites would be the most beneficial. In a nutshell, I'm looking to sell a 1970 18' Hallet flat bottom w/a hemi. Any input will be greatly appreciated since in Kansas, flat bottoms with v-drives from yester year are not that plentiful. Peace, Love and Rock and Roll.
