Wondering if any of tou guys remember a boat from the 60's/70's By the name in the title.
A Friend of mine used to run around with a bunch of Flat and hydro guys Around the parker area back then. Wondering if anyone has pics or remembers the Boat.

He is not at all computer savvy So I thought I Might do some leg work for him.

Are you referring to the Blown Fuel Hydro driven by Frank Dade in the mid-late 1970's??

Could be? I Don't Know the Guys Name Just the boat's.
John and his crew Ran NHRA ans Super Stock Grand Nationals,
All over the west Coast. He was Over at my place on Mon. Saw My boat and told me some stories about the river Back in his time of runing his Sanger hydro with an injected 392. (River boat/Ski) as he called it.
He remember a really FAST(He was a race car driver)That they ran around with. Specifically Purdone Taking a ride in "Smoke on Water" and saying "I will Stick to wheels, You Guys Are Crazy".

If you are referring to racing legend Mario Andretti, the actual story is, he took a ride with Mary Rife in her Blown Fuel Hydro "Proud Mary" in Long Beach 1975.

I will quote from the wediditforlove.com website:

"However, the highlight most remember was In 1975 when the most famous race car driver in the world literally put his life in the hands of a woman. At the Long Beach Marine Stadium, Mario Andretti climbed into a Jerry-rigged second seat in Mary's Blown Fuel Hydro and let the queen of boat racing take him for a 160+ MPH pass on the water. When it was all said and done a gracious Andretti thanked Mary and said he'd NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!"

I didn't know Sunny drove it too. Sunny was one of the baddest flat drivers ever. Is Frank Dade still around... We pitted near him at a NDBA race in Bakersfield in the mid 80's.. He was cool to us even though we were bracket scum...

Sunny drove it before Frank Dade. Used to be a picture of Sunny driving it in his shop. He may have only run it for a race or two. His love as you know was Blown Alcohol Flat.
I wondered if Frank Dade was still around also. I did not find his name on "Those who gave it all" at the We did it for Love site. Maybe he is still around.

Art: Where do you get all this stuff from? You must dread it if you are moving. Been there, hated it.

David,

Frank Dade is still around. He has been at the World Finals for the last two years spectating (usually sitting in front of Mettler's camper in RV row). You are right, he is a great guy, really nice!!
