This past weekend my Dad and I started rebuilding seats for the boat. Man whatta job... First pulling apart the old rotten ones from the boat so we could make patterns. The pics are of the back seats, we didn't get the front ones finished yet.

Looks to be a great start.
Those will flow really nice with the hull.
When your ready to upholster maybe my seats will be done and I will tell you about the guy I Used. He was less than half of what other shops wanted, I will let you Know about quality when I see Mine.

Hey! your garage looks like mine! full of boat, seat carcasses and aeroplanes. I'm struggling to find time to fly with the boat project and all.

It's looking good, how thick a plywood you using??, I have a couple of buckets that I have to do the same thing, they're rotted so I'm going to use them as templates!...

I used 1/2 inch, that's what was in there except I used Birch instead of reg. plywood. Then I'm going to seal them and then paint em'. that should keep them in good shape for a while.

Thanks that's what I thought, the buckets I have are 3/8 and I figured that is way too weak, Birch is a good idea too!...

Is there any place on the internet that I can get an idea on a bucket design.

Look at Aqua Craft's, his were done in Torrance, Ca. and here's a pic of what my seats used to look like. On the new one's I made the middle section on the back seats norrower.

I bought 4 fiberglass buckets from Dan at Canyon Marine. He now owns the "wide body" style as well as the standard. I'm putting two wide ones in the front and two standards in the back.

hey you got a picture of those seats you got, cause i would like to see them. i need to really think of a way to fit 4 in my boat. also does anyone have seats in their boat that sit below the stringers or do they all sit on top, mine sit on top but im 6'2 and my knee caps are about 4 or 5 inches above the top of the deck.

Unless you have an ass like a 5 year old boy, there's no way to get a seat in between the stringers on the Lebel.
Some boats only had two stringers and a lot of the jet boats only used 1/2 length stringers.
Having your knees next to the steering wheel is part of the charm:D I feel what you are saying, I'm 6'+ myself. When people ask how tall I am I always say 6' so the guys that are 5'8" and say they are 6' look silly.
All the fiberglass buckets I've seen look the same. About 2' tall, a couple of stiffining ribs, either black, white or painted.
90% of the Vdrives today are two seaters...toys or racers. But most of them started as family boats with 5 seats (3 kids across the rear bench with their knees by their ears). People got buckets for lightness, turned the rear seats around to watch the skier, discovered the Parker tattoo, etc.

That's because all you've looked at were drag boat seats!..:D

I know this is from one of those other type boating sites but if you are looking for seats it seems like a good deal.

http://www.banderlog.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=5726Those look nice. A bit spendy though. On the other hand, would save a ton of woodwork and probably some weight too.
