Art,

Here is the stuff I got, not only that there are three copies of e-mails from you, Wannabe and Fiat48 concerning the setup. :D :D :D

That is a nice "Complete" set-up. Aside from running lines and mounting equipment it should be pretty easy to get running. With all the info that came with it you should not have any major issues, but in case you get hung up you could probably call any one of us and get all the info sorted out in a twenty minute phone call.

I've kinda got it plumbed out in my head. Probably not going to use the surge tank, my fuel tank sits across the back of the boat and is high so fuel to the pump will be no problem.

After looking this over it looks to me like the hardest part is the throttle linkage. Are the safety springs that Kinsler has any good or should I be considering some other avenue.

Yep, that's a nice setup alright!. Since it's all setup put it on the way it is and try it, may be real close but it will tell you if it is or not no biggie!... If your tank is high enough that the pump will be primed all the time forget about the surge tank you don't need it, makes it even simpler. Just put 3 bungs on the tank for returns, primary, secondary and shut off, you can T into the shut off line for the high speed if you're going to use it!. Throttle linkage is simple as can be, leave the springs on the throttle shafts but put the normal return spring on the cable as you would with a carbejemator!...

OK, I'll use the Kinsler springs and put another as in carbs. I'm going to have to engineer this throttle set up I can see that, this isn't going to be one of those "bolt down a piece of 2x4 and run the throttle shaft across it and nail it down" type of thing. It looks like I need a bell crank and etc. etc. Send me a close up of your purple boat FI set up Art and I can see how you did it. BTW what size bungs do I need to install? PS I have W900 nozzles in it now and the others are 35's

I'll dig up a pic of mine in the AM for ya, returns are -06 but check your bypasses to make sure, but I'm sure they are -06???... Are they all Kinsler nozzles??, not familiar with those numbers I'll have to check my charts against Hilborn, you have a 496 right???!..

I believe they are Kinsler nozzles but when I look at the book it has 880 and then jumps to 920 so I am not sure what is happening there. I think the 35's are probably enderly. Yes I have a 496. with all the different AN fitting coming off of this I was sort of confused at what bungs to get, I'll have to look at the bypasses in the morning as see what they are.

Well, have to check with Kinsler's site for those numbers, my antique chart don't show them, the 35's could be Enderle the Hilborn # is a 30 for 480-550ci!. Mine were on alky when I got them and was on a 500in motor and had 38 nozzles!.... Anyhow here's the only pic I have showing the throttle linkage, kinda hidden by the wires, it's just a plate I made and bolts to the head, I notice the shaft don't stick out in the back on yours, but you can do the same on the front!..

Kinsler numbers all of their nozzles based off of their flow rates. That way you can really fine tune your setup. That is why they advertise the 880 then to 920. Those are just recommendations, but they have everything down to fives in the third digit of the number code. It just goes to show how well they are matched as sets.

I called Kinsler and got a recomendation from them. the U900 nozzles are a little large and they said to go to the 800's and I am missing the main bypass jet can so I have to get one of those. They (Earl) said to start with a 96 (rich side) jet and get about 8 more starting from 92. Dang those nozzles are expensive.

Yes, Kinsler does get top dollar for their stuff, but it is top notch. That sounds like it would work better for your cubic inches.

That thing had a dial-a-jet so that takes place of the main jet can. It also makes it a little faster to try different jets while on the water.

Ah-Ha, thats why there is no main jet can. My brain can't stand all of this added information that it is assimulating. I looked at it and the first thing that came to mind was "That thing will be real nice up on the boat dash but that means I need to run a fuel line all the way there and back" I am not quite sure if thats such a good idea or not. Even if I installed it near the V drive I would have reservations about it.

You could mount it tastefully off of the engine. You don't want to be switching it around while you are under power anyway so there is no need to have it at your finger tips while in the seat. That way you don't have to run a million feet of braided line.

So are you looking forward to running alky?

Oh yeah! I'm looking forward to running Alky, looking forward to easier on my engine, looking forward to running enclosed cooling with no worries about overheating, looking forward to simpler tuning and I'm actually looking forward to the engineering to get it hooked up correctly. NOT looking forward to cleaning it out all the time but Mark came up with a good idea to have the fuel tank plumbed with a QD so I can switch real easy to high octane in a small seperate tank and run that through it at the end of the day.

It is a cool deal but worthless in drag racing, keep it SIMPLE just get a quick change can and put it the line from the pump to the tank!...

Wow all this complicated $hit to take a $hit, LOL....

You can get alky with top lube in it, or you can put Problend in it and just treat it like gas, no flushing or anything just park it till the next time!... "K.I.S.S."....:D
