Hi guys, does anybody have any pics or info on these boats. I have one here in Australia which was produced by flopping a hull from the states and called a ZD Cobra.

Thanks,

Darren

Yes, was told by the builder he brought one to Aus in the early eighties and flopped it.

Damn, i thought my trailer was stout. Whats it like having a hot boat where you live?
I live in New England and there are very FEW hot boats so just towing around town is an experience.
Took my neighbor to get fuel an hour away and by the time we got home he said next time just take jugs and leave the boat at home:eek:
Gotta love the peeps that say is that a car motor?
My girl is very shy and doesn't like strangers walking up on her so its been an adjustment but now i hear her giving cubic inch numbers and whatnot, gotta love it

Hi guys, the pipes are by Price mufflers in Melbourne Australia and are stainless. They have water going through them but they really aren't that quiet. I have a video on youtube, just search "v drive ski boat from australia" I was just runin in at about 3800rpm but had bassetts n t that time. I will put a new video up shortly when I get one.

Cheers,

Darren

Hi Poncho, with regards to having a hot boat in my area, I live 15 minutes away from the Hawkesbury River which is where the world famous Bridge To Bridge Ski Race finishes so my boat is really nothing out of the ordinary in these parts. It does however turn heads on the water as it sounds quite nice for a small block chev. Even my girlfriend was a bit funny with people on the banks of the river all watchin when we drive past but she is used to it now. She likes it that much that she is studying to get her boat licence so she can have a drive.

Cheers,

Darren

Can you tell us about the boat license rules over there? Do you need a license to drive or own a boat or both?

Thanks, Steve

Boat licence is just like getting a car licence to a certain extent. You need to study a book (which I could send you a copy) and learn the rules and also what all of the different navigation marks are. A lot of it is just common sense. Have a look at the following website

http://www.waterways.nsw.gov.au/

That's been up in the air here about a license too, but after all the alcohol consumption by the idiots all the common sense(which they don't have to begin with)just goes down the toilet anyways!............

mate, we get the same here occasionally but thankfully not too often. I hate it when we get people on the water with no idea on what to do.

Thanks for sending the information. As Art says, they have been talking alot about licencing boaters here. It sure hasn't helped the car drivers any but I think that everyone should at least take the Coast Guard course on safe boating. There is a lot af good information in that course.

Careful what you wish for. They already are on the noise issue, and working hard on the drinking issue. If you throw enough money out there you can have a boat that for sure can kill you or someone else and all you have to do is get it in the water. I'm for the basic safety course and zero tolerance for drunk drivers. Put it on the trailer or beach and party on

The noise is not really a big issue here. Most of the river I use has minimal housing on it except at the top end which is Windsor. The Waterways and Police are pretty cool as long as you are not being a nuisance to anybody else on the river. It only takes a bit of nouse to see them and drop the revs down a touch. I normally give them a courtious wave and just drive on by.

Hey Paranoid I'm glad you have said noise is not really an issue, because I was wondering what the Waterways guys are gunna think of a blown & injected big block in a flatbottom with zoomies!!! :mad:I can see it now, slowing down from 90 odd mph to show the officers look, it has water injected pipes with supertrapp mufflers/spark arresters fitted and no officer I don't think it goes over 85db...lol:p
Missed you a deepy on Sunday bloody too cold to stay. Try and catch up at the Windsor specky.

I am going to buy a nice set of Bassett twisties, bling bling:D

Recreational boating licences are ok here, but a racing licence is something else entirely different, both for a driver and owner.

Hey Rayson, got lucky on Sunday and helped the missus in the canteen, was a bit warmer than in the course boats where I normally end up. Love the Bassetts but gee they can charge for them. Definately try to catch up at Windsor.

Cheers,

Darren
