Let me introduce myself.....being a newbie to the v-drive scene, I dove in headfirst. Bought a '81 Howard 2" Runnerbottom v-drive...some of you may recognize it.
Now, having it back here in Colorado (oregon purchase)....do I have any fellow racers nearby? :) I have alot of questions regarding what I have, and to keep it safe on the water is a priority. Some passengers have mentioned a foot rest would provide some comfort/support, any suggestions?
I abosluty love this boat....always wanted a vdrive after having a myriad of boats from hot rod jets to 34' Carver diesel cruzers.....got the boat of my dreams now!! :D:D I'll post some pics. soon.
Thanks for the site.....and I'm hoping to make some freinds here.

If you're talking about front seat passengers mount a couple of gas pedal type "feet" or Foots...... And a sissy bar on the dash. It is hard to understand their feeling when WE have a steering wheel to lock onto, and our feet have a place to go as well. Look inside some of the crackerboxes, they have two shoe fitting type pedals for the passenger/navigator as well as two stout handles to hold on to..... Now if it is back seat passengers that are sliding out of the seat under acceleration, just install some motorcycle passenger pegs, (the fold up/down type) on the stringers so they can have something to keep them in the seat......MP

thanks for the reply MP...
yea, this is a two seater...runnerbootm vdrive....sure, I have a wheel and pedals to grip. My rider has a handle on the vdrive, and nothing more (maybe two nuts in a sack) to grab.:D
I was thinking a nice billett foot peg (for both feet) to stradle the stringer would give some bracing. More along the lines of a rear foot peg on a motorcycle. Holes exist in the stringer in the area, so drilling new holes are probobly not required, do any fellow boaters have a setup with photos?
Thanks!!! :)
