Well for starters a very big bang...:D
Apparently the engine backfired for some reason and "Bang" there goes the Supercharger...:(.
Could have broke something in the valve train, timing could have been set wrong or fuel system malfunction, many different thing could have went wrong.
I watched it again and it sounds like the motor started to die and then Lighted back up and then Kaboom. Which would lead some one to believe that their was a fuel issue that caused the explosion.
Just my .02 worth...;)

Looks like maybe someone needs to invest in a burst plate and restraints! Hope nobody was hurt......

Sound wasn't very good so it's hard to tell what really happened. #1 the motor sounded rough (not good), #2 idle sounded high (lean fast) # 3 "Art's brother" leaned over and adjusted the A/F mixture turnbuckle #4 BANG!!! "Kids don't do this at home!" Does that guy still have a head or any fingers? I really don't think there is a large enough "burst plate" made to control that kind of "intake fire" at low velocity. Sure they help durring a "pop", when the intake air is still flowing towards the motor. (high speeds) But this deal was "hard and fast", the intake charge blew up, in the blower. And luckily the bolts broke. Blower restraints would have meant "pieces of blower" in everybodies faces, instead of it just "falling off". If it was an ALCOHOL MOTOR, it was too much advance and too lean. "Lean pop". If it was gas, it could be a number of problems.

Also, I fear they had "no idea" where the timing was set. On blower motors with MAGS, I use a buzz box and set the crank to the timing I want. Then just get the points in the mag to make the buzzer go "on and off". When the other guys want MSD's or some other deal, I use a "plate with a Holley carb on it". The plate fits directly on the blower manifold and I break in the motor/cam and set the timing with a light. Just like a regular carb'd motor. When I know it runs, the blower goes on.
