I just came back here from Performance Boats .com and there are a lot of people over there 'freaking out' about the "Indy Mack" bank trouble. First off, what the hell is an Indy Mack? (Indy Mack truck 500?) It seems like banks have just been "springing up" all over the place. We have a couple 'new banks' in our town and they seem to be "local people owned", meaning 'if the Dairy Queen goes under the credit rating of the bank goes out the window! My favorite part is where the posters say they are not worried because "that bank is Federally insured". YEH! You talkin' about the "FDIC"? Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation! Corporation! Corporation? It's not part of the government. It is chartered by the government, but not owned or controled by our government. Way back this PRIVATE CORPORATION wanted to "be in the insurance business" and they asked our government to "OK this deal". Just as "Freddy Mac" and "Fanny May" are 'government chartered/connected' they too are NOT part of our government. Just as in 1929, will any of us know when to WITHDRAW? Here in Havasu we have been seated in "front row seats" as far as being witness to the "I bling more than you" people. I went over there to look at the BOATS and PARTS for sale, (I like to buy stuff 10 cents on the dollar) and boy there are tons of them. I wish all of you: happiness in your life, stability in your wealth, along your right foot down and your left foot up! Who would like to help me start the "Federal Boat Racing Insurance Corporation???" I thought so.

George,
It's not just Indy-Mack thats in serious trouble. Working for a bank in Western New York we have followed this fairly close. We're always looking for new opportunties. We are Federally chartered so we can open shop anyplace in the US. This looks like it will get much worse before it get better. The Feds raided Wachovia today and there will be more to follow. First National Bank Holding in Arizona is one that looks to be in for a rough ride. Fortunately our management team has made some very wise decisions and did not get caught up in this. We are a very well capitilized bank that not many can say these days. Our stock is stable and we are making money, Hopefully we will soon be able to pay very good dividends to our investors.

George, I too am in a position to take advantage of some of the smoking deals listed in span over at PB. I am not in the market for a 6 figure boat, never have been, never will be, but some of the lower priced stuff seems interesting. In particular, I'm in the market for a car hauler trailer, a forklift, and various shop equipment, including a good all around welder. I haven't jumped on the recycler or Craigs list just yet, but have made a call about a Jag XKE!!!!!!!!...It is very interesting to watch all the properties/homes going for dirt cheap, the 6 figure boats go unsold, and all the RVs sitting on the lots all over the Pacific Northwest.......Ray

Tim and Ray, I fear that we are in for the "ride we didn't want" and our president, house and congress have really "led us down the path to doom". The media is down playing the real facts in these bank 'deaths'. "I don't blame the 20 year olds driving the $500K boats, I blame the bankers and banks that gave them the loans". If the banks 'walk away' from all the bad loans, who will actually pay for all the losses? YOU KNOW WHO!

Yeah, I heard the general idea from George, not sure if it is a direct quote, but real close....Art, the ONLY way you'll EVER need any of the STUFF you've saved for years is to throw it AWAY. I have a place for "primary" stuff, and a place for "secondary" stuff, then the "I'm gonna pitch this one of these days" stuff. The latter is geared towards faking the stuff into believing you've actually thrown it away.......THEN you'll get to use it, someday, sooner or later...........Ray
