I just got done completely refurbishing my trailer; axles, hubs, wheels, paint wiring. Now that I am all done, my prop guard on the trailer is a whopping 4" off the ground:eek:. It seems way to low. This is my first boat, not really sure if low clearance is the norm on these trailers. I put some heavy duty casters on the prop guard, but not to sure if this is going to work.
I would hate to go leaf spings over axle to gain more clearance if I need it, but I am kind of stuck. What do you guys think?

4" should be ok here's pics of my Hondo and I never had any problems. In the pics the skid is sitting on the ground so it's less when coupled up.

When i bought my boat i drove cross country with a 6" drop bar to pick it up and the first time i towed it i realized that wasn't enough. I found a welding shop that had a 7" drop and it made all the difference, that 1" was night and day.

My prop guard is @ 3'' when level and have'nt had much problem. Just look at transission's (sp) and speed bump's and approach with caution.:)
