I just started putting my 69 sanger in the water. I put a clean 350 with a 750 cfm dbl pumper on it. When I have it dialed in it runs like a mothter F. Recently, all the bouncing around and running wide open has caused some problems. How the hell can I keep the timing and tunning tight all day? I think the carb adjustments shake loose a little. Anyway it just starts running ruff and back fireing. Please help so I can enjoy my summer.

make sure you have a good distributor hold down system. my brothers boat would do the same thing. the dist. would move. a better hold down clamp on the dist fixed the problem

Use a good steel clamp, those aftermarket chromed pot metal POS are junk and you'll never get the distributer tight!..

Also make sure your dist collar touches the intake without the hold down clamp on first. If it sticks up at all you will never get it tight enough without extra shimming.

Also make sure the distributer sits flat on the manifold, a lot of manifolds are not machined right and you don't have full contact and that makes it hard to get the distributer tight!..
