hi all, i'm wondering if its possible to re use the fittings and replace the braided hose from the two braided hoses that conect the water pick up in the cavitation plate to the through hull fittings.. i can't find any info on this type of fittings. I just got shocked at the price of buying the hole new hose section - $225 each and i need both !

225 EACH?!! I think some one is yanking your chain. You do not need a preassembled fitting. Go to Jegs, Russel, etc, and look for braided do it yourself fittings. Some hydraulic supply fittings places usually carry stainless and AN fittings. It is only carrying water to the pump!!!!

hey guys that was the price from Glen L marine and glenwood. I have been looking at other braided hose on the web and the fittings looks a little different - just cant work out how it comes apart, i've been a bit busy at work to ask my mechanic mate so i thought i'd ask while i'm at home on the net. Last time i forced something apart i destroyed it- well last time -and the time before that, and the time before ha ha just trying not to wreck the parts:D

I may not be seeing all that that part is, but to me it is not a $200 part. First thing we should ask is where is your water pick up? The water pick ups on our boats are either on the plate, or through the floor and blast plate. One end is a pick up and the other end a jic fitting. Typically a # 8 or #10. Then we use either a braided line (prefered) or a rubber hose. You can buy good hose that is not braided on the outside but the same burst pressures. Do your self a favour and use the jic fittings. This is a good place to run water into the motor on the trailer. You dont need to buy the Russel or Aeroquip stuff, but it sure is nice. You can go to a hydraulics place and buy the fittings you need in brass or steel, go with the brass. These fittings are to be used with a hose and can be pushed on with a little bit of grunting. I used these types of fitting extensivly in my machine building for both the water and air systems. The air air systems typically were around 150 psi. Any hose place should be able to help you out. You can buy the good fittings and hose through Summit racing, Jegs, etc. Just for the record my boat is all done in ss braided line and aeroquip fittings and like it that way, but there is nothing wrong with doing it with regular hose. Just use good fittings and think about taking it apart at a later date when you select the fittings. When I was very young preteen I never thought twice about just pushing a hose on an npt hose barb. The problem here is when you need to take the hose apart, and you will need to, you either twist the hose into a pretzel, or cut it and now you need a new house either way.
Just my long winded opinion.

thanks Brian, i will be looking at the local speed parts store for some fittings that will fit my water pick ups - which are in the cavitation plate.

Grayson, as a past FL resident, now back in AZ, lookup Amazon hose and rubber in Orlando, they will hook you up for next to nothing, git em your original, wait 20 min, and you are done!
