I have an old top loader v-drive that is in need of rebuilding. I spoke with Casale Engineering and they did not have any publication like a manual other than the parts diagram on their website. Specifically, I am wanting to change the bearings (which are worn) and the oil seals. Before I start turning any wrenches, does anyone have any advise on this job? Is there a manual anywhere out there? Is there a special bearing puller I should get? Are there any pitfalls I should know about? Should I have a machine shop press in the new bearings, or could I tap the new ones in with a wood block? It seems that the bearings are available locally, but do I really need to buy them direct from Casale? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Bearings and seals are common every day stuff available at any bearing supply house, but you will need/access to a press to press the gears on and off, bearings are nothing to put in!...

Rob, when my old top loader needed a rebuild. I just bought a used 12* for $500, mounted it in there and called it a day. :)

Not rich, just not confident in rebuilding a top loader and the cost to have someone do it was near the same, plus it opens up gear swaps/options. :)
