This boat is all original always been garaged, the metal flake is almost like new!. It belonged to the Heinz family(hence the number 57)from day one, you can't see it in the pic but on the back on the white you can still see the word "Catsup", that's what they called the boat!...

Well, I just heard about it a couple of weeks ago and it's at a friends place, I went and looked at it Wed, couldn't believe the shape it's in, the motor is all original they freshened it up once and then it sat for over 15 years in a garage!. I pulled a valve cover off and it's as clean as you could get!... He was thinking of buying it, but he wants to redo his Sanger(what a piece that is)so I told him whatever is priority, he came to his senses pretty quick and decided on doing the Sanger instead, and it looks like I'll be doing the resto on it!...

After taking the Southwind cruiser skiing for the first time I really wish I had seen that little beauty first. I had to use second gear to pull 120 lb. girls out on a wake boards. The "0" mark on the timing cover must be way off because I set it at 34º total and it was a dog. I threw in a handful of advance and it got better but that oval port 454 aint making much steam.:(
Like to see that Stevens when you're finished.:)

Actually it's a Sanger and it has a 426 Hemi right from Petty Enterprises, he bought it from the original owner in 80, it was blown originally and he took the blower off now he wants to put it back to it's original state!... As soon as I get settled in at the river I'll be on it, I'm looking forward to this deal!...

Wow tough question Trey, theres alot of things to consider your Youngblood is a proven boat that will run safely in the 80`s with decent power. If you were offered a mid to late 80`s Hondo would be a different story 73 is early in the runner history and some people figured it out fast but not all.Can you go for a ride and see how it sets and runs and find out for sure about the mechanicals. When someone bails on a v-drive it can be as simple as need room for family or someone giving up on a ill handling boat lot of stuff to consider.I personally would see it as giving up a proven boat for another proven boat only.Probably created more questions than answers but you need to look hard at the deal i know those Youngbloods still go for good money. It would suck to feel like you took a step backwards.

Trey your asking questions that cant possibly be answered from a thousand miles away.
Is it possible?
Yes
On that note it has to be the boat that YOU want not what someone else says is good

Hey Trey no problem thats why i like this site you get answers whether its what you want to hear or not.
I hope my post last night didn't seem harsh just hate to see someone walking into something they are not ready for or end up disappointed.
You stated the waters are shallow keep in mind you have lots of underwater gear on a v-drive.
I wish you luck on Saturday keep us posted

well no hondo spent 250 bucks on diesel for the guy not too trade.
i told him the carbs needed to be tuned he says it was the timing and pulled out the distributor and couldnt get it back in right he also said there was water in oil thats bullshit because i changed oil two days ago. oil wasnt even milky. ive learned my lesson. im not traveling anymore to help people out

Oh man thats not cool! Damn sorry to hear that not much honor left in this world. At least you have a boat so i guess if it were me i would just fill er up and go play and try to forget the whole deal and assume it just wasnt meant to be for some reason.
