Anybody have experience with these new piston style fuel pumps made by quick fuel? They seem to have a large capacity application and reasonably priced for a comparable volumn application. I'm trying to come up with a reliable, inexpensive alternative to an electric while berry g. rebuilds my mighty enduro over the next 2-3 months.( warranty work with redesign on gerotor on 2yr. old pump unfortunant, but cant complain). I need 200gph. capacity min. (Is reliable and inexpensive in the same sentence an oxymoron?:eek:) thanks, sic syndicate

We are running a Professional Products one on our little small block boat. It works great!

Clay Smith mechanical, will feed two Dominators no problem, and won't take a $hit!..

Hey R.R. & F.C., thanks for the input, went with the quick fuel product since it was the only one available at the time. I'll let you know how it goes next week.It was good just to hear it run again.:)

From what you say, you are trying to run 2400 HP off of one pump? I have yet to try one of those "piston pumps" on a long term/enduro style set up. They do look/offer great performance. Please let us know how this all turns out, and thanks for any info on the Barry Grant pump/service or the new piston pump overall.

O.K. I would be amiss if I did not share this info with you guys concerning some of the things we have learned. Our trip out two days ago revealed some issues with these pumps. On a couple of occasions the inlet fitting (that is sealed with an o-ring fitting) worked its way just loose enough to suck air and fail. I think there were three different times it did this on me while on the lake. If it had a pipe thread instead it may not have this issue as much, but to be honest I am not about to pend too much time and effort on this pump to leave me stranded again. I plan on switching to a standard diaphragm pump for the boat as they are tried and true. I plan on using this pump on the dyno and maybe in a car where there is not as much vibration to plague it.

Hi guys, thanks for all your responses to my query. I ended up going with the quick fuel pump since it was available at the time. The results shake down as follows, nice looking part, machine work, black anodize finish etc. Installation required removing the polished and clear powder coated motor plate cleat and grinding to clearance the body of the pump about .060", i wasn't thrilled about it but it can always be re-polished later, the pump manufacturer supplies three 1/8" thick rubber seals/washers to seal between the pump body and the block where the integrated pump push rod extends into the block at the access hole for the block push rod and instructs to however many necessary to seal between the block and pump. Again, not really thrilled about what seemed to be such a passive sealing system but i figured it must work o.k. I used all three because i had about a 1/4" gap and wanted to be sure to have enough pressure to retain any blow by from crank case pressure when i clamp the happy pedal for a couple miles. So far it's worked well with no leaks although i didn't get to run the boat as much as i would have liked since i was working so much on the house. Fuel pressure and supply was great, however i don't care for the vibration of the fuel line from the pulse of the pump and my lack of confidence in the push lock style hose and fitting i plumbed it with, however it seems more forgiving the a s.s. braided line and ridgid aluminum fitting might be. Just a guess at this point since i have no experience with this system yet. Ill probably add some hose clamps to the fuel line for my own peace of mind only to be ridiculed by someone here or there for it, but oh well, thats just my crazy way. In conclusion, for my application i would feel better with the new billet holly deal but i'm not spending another $400 to get me buy until B.G. finishes the rebuild on my mighty enduro pump in a couple months. I'll update that thread later tonight or tomorrow but B.G. really stepped up and came through for me once i made contact with their staff. Thanks again for your help and support. Be well, Warren:D
