I talked to my crew today, they are on their way home. I couldn't go this weekend because of work, kinda glad now. We run the PE class, 8.0, they never got to put the boat in the water. They ran everything up to the TE boats, 9.0, and only ran a few. Weather conditions sucked to say the least. Wind and rain was forecast for the newt 36 hours yesterday afternoon and they decided to have a drivers meeting and the result was to move it to next week. This was a drivers vote. The race trailers and boats can be left at the track and all spectator tickets will be honored next weekend. That’s the story I got about an hour ago :)

I ran down Friday night for the "Streets of Thunder" show. It was a great showing but clouds were moving in fast and right a 9pm, rain started dropping. Spent the night in Redding and woke up Saturday to the sound of rain pouring!!!
I have some pics of the street show, just need to figure out how to load them on here..... ( anyone have a email I can just send them direct to you and you wouldn't mind loading them?? ). Time is limited for me.....

Well, bummer on the weather. At least it was a drivers call for the most part. If they only ran up to TE then my friend Pete Collett didn't get to run and is facing another run down there unless he is staying.

Weather is out of everyone's control. Even the IHBA.
Now, what is in the control of the IHBA is the repaying of ther entry fee. I hear drivers voted for it..to their credit.
Now, here's the kicker...all you "filler boats" (other's works, not mine)...what do you think the fuel guys had to do...Pay again?? If anyone knows, (I do) post it. That is about as deep as I am getting in.

Charlie was an old school drag race promoter. Haven't heard much about him since the late 70s, early 80s.........MP

I think Charley still IS the IHBA, he was when my customers ran in it. He was one of the promoters at OCIR in Calif. and learned his "craft' at the car drags. Ray he was the BOSS back in 1995 when one of my guys got screwed on "high points jackets" purchases from he and his wife. I refused (boat owner paid for) jackets from IHBA because of their business practices. I understand business, but I also know that "living the high life", while "using up the racers" seems to be normal business practices for Mr and Mrs Allen. This is why I am not surprised when the idea of "double charging" racers is brought up. "It's not the money, it's the point!". You (the racer) choose what you can afford and maintain thruout the season in a safe manor. "The kings of business and boat racing, need more money (due to weather or whatever) and you "budget guys" need to step up and PAY! I say EVERYONE (entered race team, pro and brackets) offer $100 for the second date. If IHBA can't run the race on that double charge, then F um! The $100 won't kill any one team, and it makes EVERYONE equal as a racer. BUT, what do I know, I quit because I don't trust the (non floating) capsules, and the politics they bring.

Charlie now runs FireTurd International Disgrace-way near Phoenix. I live within forty five minutes of the place and you could not pay me enough to run our Funnycar there. We have run there a number of times and have continually been crapped on. I could go on and on, but I will spare you guys the boredom. I do go there to watch the boat drags though. I feel it is necessary to support any location that is willing to put up a boat race as the venues seem to be drying up.

Thats what I thought as well. I haven't heard about Charlie Allen in the last couple of decades because I no longer travel in those circles, (bad choice of words, circles). I could count the number of asphalt dragstrips I've been to in the last 15 years on one hand........Reading about IHBA this last weekend, canceling the race on Saturday when Sunday was still a possibilty just sounded wrong. I also heard the Park police, (Rangers) would not approve running on Monday??....Not sure why, but I know that venue has a lot of "dos and don'ts".......It seems a lot of racers are going back, some are not, and the circle guys were scheduled to run Oroville that same weekend......(SSers and Ks are the only flats on the sanction).......Ray

Ray, Charlie Fagan is IHBA, but Charlie Allen runs Fireturd Raceway!..
