I have some questions regarding Plugs and Plug Wires?
1- what are good wires to use with a Mag?
2- When we pulled our engine apart last year we misplaced the plugs that were in it. The original manual for the 67 427 BBC say to run either AC-43N or AC-C42N plugs. They don't make these plugs anymore so does anyone or would anyone be able to suggest what plugs I should run?

Thank you.

What compression ration do you have? alcohol or gas? Blown or N/A? A lot of things come under consideration here. You should be able to cross reference those plugs.

CR is 11:1, Gas running edelbrock TR2 Tunnelram, dual Holley 600's, cam is 2200-6200, lift of 566 everything else pretty much stock

One of the big issues I'm running into is finding someone who know's about plugs because most plugs out there today are "Resistor" type and as far as I know you cannot run them with a Magneto. Correct? The AC-43N's that the old book called for were of the Resistor type and I need something like them but for use with a Magneto. thanks again guys.

I tried AC's before worst POS there is, even worse than Champion, I won't even run them on the street, lol. Autolite or NGK's is all I ever run, and for wires these are plain ole cheap Accel solid core, they got to be 20+ years old!...

Thanks RR. As for wires, that's exactly what we had on the boat and they are as old as the boat and they need to be replaced. We have had a difficult time finding new ones. Everything we have found in the parts store are all the Carbon / kevlar or something of the like. Everything is for HEI motors now.

As for plugs, Autolites is what was in it but I don't recall what they were. I'll keep looking, most parts store are useless around here. I need a good performance store... Y'all have a good Holiday!

Here is a link to the wires that I am running on my Mag in a Blown app.

For plugs If you have heads that take the small plus use autolite 25's if your heads use the large plugs I think the Autolite # is 52.

Thanks Flatmvn, The 25's are Resistor type? I didn't think you could use them with a Mag? These are too short for my heads and the 52's didn't come up. I'll see if I can find some in that number range. I crossed referenced the originals for the motor and found Accel's then searched on Autolite and came up with these 3. http://www.power-21.com/HoneywellPower21i/Competitor.aspx?b=A&pn=0143&em=True

Thanks Guys for your help. Checked all the parts stores around here no-one carried anything. So I ordered a set of AR-51 & AR-52 plugs and a set of Accel 5040Y wires from Jeg's.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend, here's a pick of the engine so far....

That is lookin pretty spiffy there. I looked at the plugs that I am running and they are the AR-51's.

They moved to Rancho Cordova (Sacramento area) the son sold to an employee and I heard he sold it to another employee. Had my mag gone through in 1999 just after it was sold to the first employee. It was pretty cool because they had a complete history on it: built in 1957 (I bought it in 1960) in 1965 I sent it in for checkout & clean $10.50 - 1966 check & repair coil $39.00 - 1999 complete overhaul $421.00. The overhaul was due to a friend using the mag seizing the oil pump and making the shaft into a corkscrew...:( he then proceeds to take it apart put it in a box and tell me there's something wrong with it thats why he took it apart....

Wow never heard it changed hands that much, I thought the son still had it!. Good to hear the company is still on the up with the biz, they were always good to deal with!.... Yeah mine was a Hunt and after 25 years it developed an oil leak, sent it to Zig and he couldn't believe it was still working the way it was worn out, cost me $380.00 and now it'd good for another 25 years, pretty damn cheap for a fool proof ignition huh!...:D
