Louis, I was just looking at your photo album with the Rush pics. What's the story on the Injector and the carbs.
The story is that the engine was already set up with the carbs. It was a running engine in my other Flat. I put the engine in my rush to get it running and play with it for a while. When the photos were taken with the Hat on it it was for cosmetics. The carbs were out at the Carb shop getting over hauled and a friend of mine needed pics of my boat that weekend, so we put the hat on it to take pics and then it came off and the carbs went back on when they came back from the overhaul.

Whats the story on the Rush. I`ve always liked them but was curious about who made them, I think not too many were built, when and if they are still been built, and what was the donor for this? I saw two of them at the last V-Drive regatta back in I think 02 or 03.

Rush Boats are built by Grier Rush. They are not a copy of any thing that I know of. There are only 18 of them that I know of I know where a few of them are but as for the rest your guess is as good as mine. I was talking to Grier this weekend at Long Beach as to weather he would build another hull and what it would cost. He said he would build one but you need some deep pockets and convince him to build it. He won't build one for just anyone. A blank hull would run between 13 & 15K. To do a mild turn key boat would run 75 to 85K.

Grier Rush makes them, a take off of the old Howard he totally re designed it, you can still get one if you want!... You gotta be talking about the Red Rock deal right, one was a wood decker and the other was blue and white(I think), the wood decker is Grier's boat and the plug for his boats, the other one is his son in law's boat. I went for a ride in Grier's boat that time, and it was a memorable experience the boat is badass!...

Wow that is cool. So maybe this boat is similar to the Howard 20. We had one of those Howard 20`s when I was a kid. That boat hauled ass. Had a 427 Nascar motor in it. We used it mostly at Lake Arrowhead. Ski-race boat, sold it in 83 or 84. Flatmvn, beautiful boat.

I asked him about a bare hull back at Red Rock and said he didn't sell bare hulls, but he liked the way I did my Daytona so he would have made me one for $14k and the strut and fins had to be installed by him, didn't have the coin then!...

Grier didn't destroy it, the State of AZ did it from what I here. They took it straight from impound to the shredder. It was one of the conditions asked for by the prosecuting attorney's.
The Blue and White Rush that you speak of belonged to Havasu Lou. It had a 598 in it and hauled the mail. It know belong to a guy in Las Vegas and it is for sale. I have seen it listed on Craigslist for several months.

Yeah, I was trying to remember his name, I went for a ride with him once and it did haul a$$, he had it for sale quite a while, heard he sold it didn't know where it went, so it's for sale again, wonder what kind of shape it's in now, Lou really took cared of it when he had it!..

So can I have any background on this story of how and why it got grabed?:
And now for the rest of the story,
Third week of Sept, 2003 there was a v-drive related event at Red Rock Campground in Parker, Grier and two other men were in his boat headed down river, 4 young adults left the Foxes dock bar headed up river in a sanger hydro jet, just around the corner from Foxes in front of Rio Lindo Shores the two boat collided. Griers boat ran over the top of the sanger and killed the driver and two of the passengers and seriously injured the fourth.
Long story short Grier was found to be at fault and served time for the accident. His boat was destroyed and he is not allowed to operate any watercraft for 5 years.
There have been many debates and opinions on this subject and it has been beat to death so my I suggest we move on without stirring up anymore issues This is also the reason why we are trying to keep the Sept.vacation on the down low. It has been 5 years and we are trying to get past it with out any issues.

Flatmvn

Yes we did it last year, but there were only 6 boats. This year there are allot more boats so it will attract attention. This is why we stress the point of it being a vacation and if some friends happen to wonder by well so be it.
The reason for this is because the investigating authorities tried to say that the event was a sponsored event and tried to drag several of the sponsors that were on the T-Shirts into the legal matters and all hell broke loose. That lead to not having permits for an organized event and numerous other accusations and so on.

Its tough, I saw pictures from the Needles Vacation this year and it kinda pissed me off. That event is an invite only deal that is never talked about till after the fact. I completely understand why it is this way but.....
With "our" deal, its no secret and I like that. We have all been looking forward to his for many months now. Look at when the Sept. thread was started!
I do think that the Red Rock deals were growing faster than anyone ever thought they would and it attracted a wide aray of people. I saw some pretty carzy things going on on the water. I feel that our group is small and like minded and we should not have any problems.
I really am looking forward to meeting all you guys and seeing the ones that I met last year! I am happier at no place other that the RIVER.

Sorry to hear this. If it happened in 05 and it is now 08 , thats only three years? The transom on this boat looks very similar to the Howard. Was Art right, ?
Steve, Grier worked for Howard many many moons ago, and when he left he re designed the boat completely but it's still taken off the Howard and some things are similar!...

Art & Steve,
I talked to Grier yesterday and asked him how similar the Howard and the Rush are and he told me that part of the transom and the sides are all that is similar the res is a hole different boat, just thought I would let you know.
Flatmovin,
I see Richard Hammond paintin the motor. I've known him for 30+years. next time you see him, ask him about wind up boats in a San Diego hotel hot tub. He'll get a laugh. He painted my Dad's K-boat and Comp Jet. You may know the C/J, 402 Slight Advantage.

JAFO,
I know the C/J 402 very well I have been driving it this year in competition, I raced it in Parker and in Burley. Mark and Don Moyle own it and they have been letting me drive it. Mark is thinking about racing Bako in Sept if he does and brings 2 boats I will probably be driving the 402 then.
I am going to go ask Richard about SD right know I have to here this story.

JAFO ( Kevin )
Richard said that the SD incident wasn't as bad as the weekend that you guys went racing at Lake Kaweha and you flipped the boat, Berni threw his cigarette out the window and you and Richard borrowed your moms Audi. Remember that?
When I asked him about SD he looked at me and said who the hell were you talking to to find out about that. I told him a guy that said you painted his dads k and then he knew exactly who I talked to. Any ways he says hello and to tell everyone hello.

Louis I would ask that in the case of the BillyB and RCL picture taken at Burley in the year 2007, you remove them immediatly as to not cause any further legal action. Or, if desired, you can write one check to Mike Minegar for the sum of "one mmmiiiiilllllliiioooon dollars" and all further legal action will be stopped.

RCL as for you request I feel that I shoud be the one receiving monies for the damage that I have incured for the association of the two individuals that you speek of. Phycologically I am still suffering from the effects of the said photos in question. If any one should be seeking leagal action it should be me.

The Redrock accident kinda fractured the v-drive community as it then existed, thus, a lot of us don't get invited to Needles (myself included).
Both parties to the accident were there for the redrock deal and there is still plenty of disagreement regarding what caused it. It's a controversy best left to ancient history. I'd only prove myself a confirmed jackass if I were to ressurrect this controversy!

Can't forget the weekend in at kaweha. What a mess. So you're driving Slight Advantage huh? That's great I need to call Richard to see if he plans on coming out to Ming. I need to get my Dad up there. That boat damn near killed my old man, and ended his racing "career". That boat did haul ass. I would love to see it again. Did you drive it at the enduro? My Dad called me the following week and told me it lead quite a bit of the race. Congrats, take care of that hot rod.

I don't think Richard has any plans to go to Ming as of right now but if we decide to race and you call him and put pressure on him to go he might come. I have been in a couple of unexpected circles in the 402 myself. Two were my fault and the third one I didn't have any choice but at least I saw it coming and was prepared for it. The boat still runs pretty good the driver still needs some work though. The last Enduro it didn't do to well it led the first lap and blew the motor on the second. Mark and Don plan on racing the Enduro in Oct. You should come out and bring you dad. It would be a great time.

I am going to put some pressure on Richard, my Dad's eyes kind of lit up when I told him about the Comp Jets at Ming. He went to the beach with me and was pretty impressed with the boat count in the class. You guys are doing a great job. I will be at the Enduro without failure, hopefully I can get my dad out there. I am looking forwwward to meeting you. Richard had a lot of good things to say about you. As you can tell I've known him since I was just a little shit.

For some of you more nostalgic guys and for those that are just interested in cool things here are some Pics from Bonneville Salt Flats. I went there this week for the first time. I had a great time and really enjoyed walking around and seeing all the different vehicles. There were over 500 entries for the week and the fastest run we saw in the 2 days there was 367 mph.
Enjoy the pics if you would like to see all the pics I took visit my photobucket acc. and go to the Bonneville album.

I've only been to the flats once and there were no cars... Is August usually when they hold the speed trials?
Thanks for the pics there's definitely some cool cars. Like the rods.

If I am correct Bonneville Speed week is held every 2 years. Not sure if Aug is always the date.
Yes there are allot of cool cars, out of the 276 pics that I took. There are very few of the same vehicle and there were tons more cars there. I didn't always have a camera with me and walked by several hundred more cars that I don't have pics of. I think you could spend all week there and not take a pic of the same car twice.
