First person to correctly identify the object in the picture gets a beer or soda from my cooler at the Sept gathering on the river.

Well DUH!!!
That would be the excess resin left over in the bottom of the cup. Only seen about three hundred of those.

I was hoping Art would come across with a guess something like A Petrified Turd From A Ditch Pump. I will put some Mountain Dew in the cooler just for the Miller clan.
Very short thread I guess. I was coating the plywood for the deck on the unofficial V-Drive.com camera platform and it was a warm day. I put the right amount of catalyst in and halfway thru the quart I mixed that is what happened. In a second it stopped pouring. Was like a super-ball for a bit. Bounced everywhere.

Yes, a change in temp and or humidity can have a big affect on how fast that stuff goes off. We also learned that having it out in direct sunlight can be detrimental also. I don't even want to admit how many times we have done that. I do have to say, if not for our unique experiences we would not have had any idea. Anyway, we are looking forward to seeing you at the river Kurt.

It didn't catch on fire? Hot day, catalized resin.....fire in the hole!

I love it when it catches on fire, or better yet, when it gets so hot it melts the container. You can tell when you have a good containter when it stis there and boils the edges against the container while the center turns into a rock. Gotta love it.
Terrible toy

Looks familiar...
For all the probs that resin gives ya, I think acetone in cuts when you're washing the stuff is off is worse.

Thank you for reminding me why I love doing fiberglass work (aside from the itching).:D

Ever use Zoops Seal for AL?
I mixed my first batch in a red plastic cup in the kitchen, on the granite.
Went outside and when I came back in there was a bright red puddle on the counter and running down the maple cabinets.:eek:
Cleaned up nicely thank God.:D

That's because you DIDN'T put the right amount of catalyst for the weather conditions, don't feel bad any time I do that stuff it either fires off before I can use it, or it never fires off at all so FK it I don't do that stuff anymore!,LOL..:D

OK Art, so I'm not a chemist. I was doing it in the shade of the shop. But then it is just the cheap Home Dump resin so I will just blame it on that and keep my ego intact.....lol

That's one reason I like the West Marine epoxy system.
No guess work and they have different catalysts for different temp ranges.

it looks like someone put in fiberglass resin in a cup and way too much cataylist.
