One of the things (of many) I have to do this weekend is set up my water temp. I have a valve on the water exhaust to adjust flo and I am going to run it into a bucket from a constant cool (read simulated lake temp) source and adjust the temp with the vave. I'm thinking 140 to 160 degrees f for racing temp, does anybody disagree with that? Next year I am going to run an enclosed system to keep, muck, sand, weeds, stray fish and all other sorts of creatures that wish to be funneled thru the system in their own enviroment.

Your little experiment will get you in the ballpark, but actual on the water, especially racing, temps will be quite different that idling on the trailer. The "bang for the buck" principle relates to all that fuel exploding in the cylinders. That bang on the trailer is a lot different, so beware of over heating on your first pass. Better too cool, that too hot, and adjust from there..........MP

I figured that setting it up in my back yard was not going to be the same as on the water. It will run hotter on the water than what I set it at so I am going to set it to run a little on the cool side. I'm trying to get close because I'm darn sure not going to be able to jump out while I am in the water to adjust it. The 140/160 temp is what I am aiming for on the lake.

Let the water flow, oil temp is critical not water, cold water in a hot block is asking for trouble, and garonteed you won't lose power like most think!..
