what size fuel line should be routed to the fuel pump - 3/8 or 5/16 - will 3/8 starve a dual carb tunnel ram setup? and what size AN fittings go with what, cant seem to find any conversion charts:o

AN stuff is measured in 1/16" so at least -10 to the pump, -08 to the fuel log, -06 to the carbs!..

-4 is 1/4
-6 is 3/8
-8 is 1/2
-10 is 5/8
-12 is 3/4
-16 is 1"

Take the hose size and divide it by 16. IE 6/16=.375=3/8

If I remember correctly, SAE says that "1/2 lbs of gasoline per horsepower per hour at sea level" is the baseline for gas (4 stroke) motors. They state that this is when 6lbs = 1 gallon of gas. I would first look at your fuel pump, then regulator, fuel tank fitting sizes, and finally hose sizes. 600HP = 50 gallons per hour at sea level. I would always try to maintain at least a 20% extra margine of fuel, 50 X 1.2 = 60 gallons per hour for 600HP.

That sounds about right!..

is 6-8 PSI enuf for a dual carb (660 center squirter) tunnel ram setup?

It is enough if you have plenty of volume also.

Eight lbs may be too much pressure for Holley carb 'needles and seats'. "660's" are single inlet carbs (unless you changed them) and like Louis said "volume" is the question. If you do use a regulator, mount it right next to the carbs. If you run a Holley type regulator, USE BOTH OUTLETS AT ALL TIMES, the outlets inside the fittings are small. Don't forget the smallest area of flow, the needles and seats. I would just get in the habit of having enough of part number #6-504 (.110" ) or #6-515-2 (.130") or best #6-521 (.150") in your tool box to keep all your carbs running. Most "factory stock" boat fuel tanks have 3/8" fittings and pickups. I've run motors up to around 750HP on one 3/8" tank pickup line. Over that power, I just use both tanks at the same time (3/8" + 3/8") and run #8 (1/2") from the filter forward. mounting the regulator as close as possable to the carbs, I have been able to run "around 1000HP" on 2 regulators, 2 carbs, and #6 from reg. to carbs. Smooth curves, NO 90 degree tight fittings, and no kinked hoses. Above 1000HP just go to a hat.
