For those of you that use them, has anyone mounted them under the bench seats? we have a verticle board between the back to back bench seats that has plenty of room. Question is, is it not wise to mount the box under there since we have two flat gas tanks located under the seats? or i'm betting its just wiser to mount it out in the open air. Maybe fabricating a mount on the battery box in the rear because i hate the sight of them mounted on the block

You could throw the POS in the river like I did, LOL. Seriously though, mount in a place where it can be kept cool and away from water especially, oh and don't mount it solid!..

Oooops.... I gues I better get out there and remount mine... It was such a pain with the little rubber thingies they give you on the MSD... I just solid mounted off the stringer plate between the Eng. & Drive....
5 years.... hmmmm
The unit in my truck... been in there since early 70's... guess it matters what and where...
I would rather run a MAG... which once I get this thing to settle down... most likely to switch...

Please don't tell my MSD 6 box is not mounted properly, it might just up and quit on me if it knows. Solidly mounted to the upper bell housing bolts and no insulators. Been like that since 1991.

Was out getting this thing ready for Sunday...
Pulled the box and changed the mtg.
Now if I can figure out "why" I have no brakes in my truck so it does not roll down the ramp with boat and trailer... Saw that happen once... Not a good sight... : (
have an Anchor but it's not going to work with the truck to well.
rubber bellhousing.... Just be sure to use plastic mounting screws...

Too funny. I always bring the 4x12 block along. good brake for the truck.. Yes 5 years what it was on his boat .. day cruiser with enclosed engine... moisture trap.. bad on electronics.

I always carry a set of wheel chocks in the truck, handy to have especially when your pulling a trailer. But then I always carry a spare when pulling the trailer too. It always amazes me the number of guys that travel with no spare!!

I figure it's like insurance, if you have it, you'll never need, if you don't have it..........

I had mine mounted on top of the drivers side stringer for over 5 yrs, it got soaked everytime I took it out or washed the boat or got caught in the rain.
Never had a problem with it.
They are completely sealed inside so they won't corrode or get moisture damage, etc.
I swapped the thing to my new boat and didn't realize that it had some wires that were repaired in a $h!tt^ way and the half a$$ insulation came off and shorted the two together and let out all of the smoke!!!
Pissed me off!!!!
Like they teach you in tech. school, "Don't Let the Smoke Out!!!":cool:

Lucky for me my aunt works for Super Chips !!!!
