v-drive falling into gear

Heres something I noticed today while making sure my water pump was working correctly. I had the air off on my v-drive shift and when I fired it up the shift handle started falling into gear, not all the way just bouncing in and out off the gears as they were turning. I'm thinking ther spring in front of the whirl-a-way dog needs to be replaced but would like to get other opinions. :(

Never mind, The detent ball is out of the lock assembly because of the air shift. I guess i'll be able to sleep tonight after all. :D
