Why do some boats run drag style mounts and others run alum over the stringer circle style. Whats the benifit of the circle style as some Ive seen run the full mounting just short of the ends of the motor and some full length of the boat. Also ive seen some circle boats run drag style.

Boxing the stringers ties everything up and add strenght to the whole deal, circle boats get beat up quite a bit in the rough stuff. Drag boats run on nice glass water and don't get bounced around, I seen an SS boat once setup drag style and flipped in the turn and the motor just ripped those little corner blocks right out!..

Thanks Riverracer, Another question, how far would you run the rails past the motor plates on a v bottom boat.

Well, depends on what you're going to do with the boat, if it's just a ski boat then I just run them from the transom to the front of the motor, but if you plan on a race/hot rod deal with a ton of power and plan on running GN style, I would also include the v-drive, that way it's all tied up!..

Looks nice Nailhead I like it. Now on your comp jet boats do you need to run the rails that far up with all the drive in the rear?
