Not much you can do for that, some fine steel woll will sure make them shinny though :D :D :D

It will cost you close to a grand for new ones, $500 don't sound bad.

Jet hot is an excellent coating, just make sure the headers are worth it, hate to see you waste your money. Many years ago when my Dad had his first boat we messed around with buying used headers, they always seemed to be cracking. Just my .02.

they are an old set of rewarder headers on the boat i bought with baffles, they just have some rusty looking spots between some of the tubes, but all in all in good condition.

Just go to your local bike shop and get some "Blue-Away", takes the blue right off with no effort, bikers use it all the time. Just remember that the blue is not just on the surface, so when you take the blue off, a certain amount of chrome is being removed!...

So rub them out with fine steel wool and do i do it dry or use like some wd40 or something? and i will look for blue-away art thanks, i want to clean them up and i know i wont be able to get them looking brand new, i just want to kinda freshen them up, i am cleaning everything up because it looks like it has been sitting for 10 years.

No, use the Blue-Away it has it's own applicator, you don't want to scuff up the shine!..

When I did mine, I just rubbed and rubbed on them w/ the steal wool then hit them w/ some chrome wheel polish. Just another precaution I take, I make sure to wipe down the headers real good w/ Windex to get any hand or motor oils off before firing it up. If you don't and the headers get hot enough it will burn the oil and leave colored spots all over too.

Make sure the pipes are in good condition & weld up any potential weak spots. If you are having them Jet-Hot coated ask about the Sterling coating. It's not quite as bright & shiney as chrome plating, more a shiney silver, but very nice & they don't seem to discolour to badly when run dry. It's worth asking about & I think you will be impressed. Cheers.:D:confused:
