Some questions guys.
a/ I hear people say bronze props shouldn't be turned past 4000rpm (... tho we all have done it) and I understand the reasons why. Does this apply to Nibral as well? Does Nibral have much different qualities?
b/ 2-blade versus 3-blade versus 4-blade. I understand hull and bottom shapes must have a hand in this, but at what point do you consider a change from a 3 blader to a 2 blader? Has anyone any experience with the new generation of 4 blade S/S props?
Cheers
Tony

Yes, nibral is included with the bronze prop rpm limit of 4000 rpm.
For a flatbottom, unless it's just a skiboat, a 2 blade is the way to go, because it will give you better top end speed, and turn a higher rpm.
A 3 blade does not cavatate, on take off, like most 2 blades do, but with the extra ear the 3 blade also won't turn the rpm that a 2 blade does.
I have a 2 blade and a 3 blade for my boat, and change them as needed.
Most of the new stainless 4 blade props are cast stainless and are only slightly better than your nibral props. They are made for a Ski-na-puke, type of boat that never see's mort than 4000 rpm.

Hey tunnelrunner, if you have a Stevens like the the old Psycho don't stuff around. Bealey did the homework for you & used 2 blade Menkins. The engine horsepower and gears in the v drive will determine what size prop you will need. New ones are dear and if you use a second hand one get it crack tested / x-rayed before use. Try the propellor man in Vic. I believe they now make some very good cnc props as does Argo albeit all are expensive. If you're not racing then some of the other steel props such as Precision, Record, Cole and Carey will do the job. Cheers.

Thanks Art , you want I can arrange shipping:cool:
Ive been looking around for a 2 blade Menkins Raysoninoz, bloody hard to find. The 2-blader I have is of unknown pedigree.
I think I'll bite the bullet and buy new once the new engine is installed and we sort out the gearing. I guess the thing is that these boats are dogs at lower speeds with 2 bladers on tho..... lots of vibration and hard to turn.... I guess we'll see.
Ive already had some contact with the PropellerMan, so I'll follow up on that.
Anyone need a box full of Nibral 3-bladers all in excellent condition?

The old style shotgun scoop would look cool too!
Regarding props tunnelrunner it would certainly be worth investigating the cost to get one from the states, It might be cheaper then you think considering how our dollar goes at the moment. As far as I know Bealy liked the menkins & I'm pretty sure he was a distributor for them out here at one time. I'll be interested to see how you get on.
Cheers. Gotta go the Snap-On Nitro Champs @ Eastern Creek are on today & the Bridge to Bridge boat race is on Sunday.:D:D:D Luv it...

I'm not spending another penny on the Cleveland. "Warlord" will have more cubic inches and lots more ponies before she gets wet again.
