Does anyone have pictures of their battery box mounted outside of one of the stringers?
I want to run an Optima/new tray but will need to have stand-offs made to clear the steering cables.

Mike, I have a pic but I'd have to look for it, but all I used was some round stock to space it out, plain and simple and looks good but I'm not into the "bling" shit either, so maybe not what you're looking for??...

I made up one for an optima but I have mine mounted behind the driver so I didn't have to worry about cables. If you still want to see it let me know.

Thanks Art. I am just looking for a functional way to do it.....This is for my wood decker.
Here is the tray that the Bolt Nazi sells:

Rex Marine is just coming out with a stringer mounted BBox...from above or below.
All billet. I saw one before they polished it and it still was very good looking.
I'm pretty sure some bolt holes would need filling, but I'd say it's worth it.

Ok that's different than mine. I seen one like that mounted on a piece of angle and gussets welded on the ends with slots looked pretty cool!..

Isn't that alot of weight to be cantilevered and bouncing from just two bolts??? Mine is mounted behind the engine between the stringers supported on both sides.

A lot easier on the battery on the side, and gets rid of the weight!. I'm sure he'll add two more bolts, I would!..:D

From where the bolts are I would say that those are the bolts that hold the Rail Mounts for the engine. In this case you only need the 2 bolts because you have a backing plate on the inside of the stringer and when you bolt the battery box there it acts as a backing plate for the rail bolt a win win situation. That is how mine is mounted and Art can back me up that we have ran through some crappy water at speed and mine has not come loose.
I got my battery tray from Bergeron. Luckily the hole spacing was very close and all I had to do was oblong one hole to make it fit. Here are some pics of the tray. It might work in this application.

Yeah, he could probably get by with the two bolts I'd add the extra just to be on the safe side though but......
Crappy water???? that's putting it mildly!.:eek:Ooops, guess you were trying not to make Brad feel bad running in the shoreline pussy water, sorry bout that!..:D:D

It looks like that might work great ,do you have a part number?
Are you clearing steering cables in your set up?
I might need to hog out the stand offs a little bit.......

Anyone seen one of these for the Optima D31A series? I got the battery for free so I'm trying to find a battery tray for it.

That Bergeron box looks like it may be easier for this app,i`m thinking two 4.5"x3" 3/8" thick plates with two holes at each weld on 4 peices of 3/8" pipe to clear the cables grade 8 bolts cause they are gonna be long,Art is right i would definately punch two more holes thats just too much weight from a single point too much is always better than not enough, just my two cents

No I don't have a part# we just called Burgeron and said to send us one.
No I am not clearing cables my steering is mounted on the inside of the stringers.
I can measure the space on my stand offs and I will let you know. I don't think you can take very much out because of the way the bolts hold them on. I will also look to see if the cables will pass between the battery and the stand offs.

I would not use pieces of pipe, not enough surface they will dig into the stringers, I would use solid aluminum stock and cut a notch between the upper and lower bolts to clear the cables!..

OK, I checked the gap in the brace on my bat box and it is 1 1/4 inches top to bottom. There looks like ther might be enough space for the cabels to pass between the battery and the braces. Might have to make some alterations, like notching them a little.

Art,what i meant was two pieces of plate with four holes total two short pieces of pipe welded to each plate with the plate against the stringer if there is a rail on the inside i would think this would be really strong and cleaned up well might look good too

Your idea is better, solid block cut for the cables kinda like a standoff,i`ll go back to school minus the bong

Thanks a lot Louis for all the help......I think the Bergeron deal may be the exact ticket for my lil program.....
