The real bummer is losing all the info that was shared over the years. I've been around since Don's first site and was impressed with the wealth of knowledge here. I haven't posted a whole lot but I've read a bunch and learned a lot without having to wade through the BS thats prevalent on some of the other sites.

Don and Nick,
Thank you so very much for your efforts in putting this site back together. It has been a lifesaver to so many of us as we have strived to find a site where we all can discuss our hobby (or disease depending on the individual) and learn from each others experiences. Thank you once again.

"Easy answer...... MARKET VALUE!..... as proven by the actual sale price negotiated between a willing buyer and willing seller. Whichever values the boat higher is going to be (or remain) the owner!
The general population doesn't place much value on v-drive flatbottoms and they are in (mostly) abundant supply for the rare individual that would seriously consider buying one.
If it's well built, well maintained, and/or competitively , or basket case priced, there probably is a sick individual hangin out here that will buy it. If it doesn't fit the purchase criteria of the discriminating flatbottom shopper, it may never sell!
If it's at a good price and you really want it, then buy it for yourself and be happy. As an investment or resale, though, I don't recommend getting involved in flatbottoms, because they are generally not easy to sell at a price anywhere near where they logically should sell."...AzDon..I read this, now live it,no longer have identity crisis, produce it when anybody questions my judgement regarding V-drives..and am happy..happy..happy..happy you and Nick and your Dad are taking care of us...clydededrick...once said..."When these old boats are gone,...there won't be anymore..step up to the plate and have some fun"...come on sunshine..the boating is gonna be good..chris over and out

I was a little worried about where you were going with that quote because I'd hate to have some "sick individual" hunting me down because I implied these boats are less than valuable!
Market Value is always going to be the answer to "What's it worth?" How do you establish market value? By agreeing to a price that both the buyer and seller are willing to trade at!
You mention Clyde Dietrich in your post.... The contractor from O'side with the orange, wood-deck, Litchfield, right?
If I'm not mistaken, he also owns a well known tandem engine wood Campbell that I believe is being restored by John Miller and then re-rigged by Dave Sammons.... Is that right, Art?

That was a good laugh. Actually we lowered a truck, customized a golf cart, fabricated some parts for a jig, tore down two motors, started rebuilding two motors and ordered some parts for the boat. WOW! Come to think about it, maybe the site should go down more often. O.K. so that was a bad joke.

I agree as well, nothing could come close to this site. Too bad about the lost info, but we will just have to start all over again. Bet all our boats are even faster than they were before. lol.

Don & Nick,
I echo everyone else's sentiments... It's great to have the "new & improved" site up and running. Even though I mostly "lurk" nowadays, I was really missing the hour or two I normally spend at work catching up with the latest (and greatest) NO B.S. v-drive website going!! THANKS AGAIN!!!!!!
