This Came On My Boat, What Is It?????????

this thing came on my boat when i bought it but it was bolted to the engine, i took it off because i dont like the way it looks, it seems like it is made out of stainless. my best guess is that it might be an old ski rack or something, maybe you guys could tell me what it is. when i went to look at the boat i was like what the hell is that.:confused:

I believe I have seen that setup used as a ski rack mounted over the top of an engine. Might be restricted applications now with all the high and med rise manifolds.

Oh and im guessing it only bolts up to a big block chevy, cause it has chevy stamped on it. the stuff in the middle is starting to crumble away because it is so damn old.

i sent pictures of it to my dad yesterday and he was like damn, i havent seen one of those old ski racks in years like 25 years. he didnt know what gil was though, but art took care of that. i dont think i am gonna keep it because i am gonna run an air gap intake manifold and a air scoop that i found that is pretty big so i dont think this will fit, but if i get rid of it i will let you guys know.

Looks as if its a ski rack, originally designed to hold three slalomn skies on top of the engine, a buddy of mine has one on his Hallett circa 1973,used a kind of bungie cord on top with hard foam on the frame. Jerry

That's about the time they were made, but they have a clamp with foam to hold the skis!..
