I will at least post here and admit that I have no idea what you are talking about. What the problem with the tach?

Wayne... I will call them today. For those others that don't know what I am talking about, it is the key to re set the tattle tale that shows the highest RPM that you have run the motor.
Sorry for not being clearer... I had a guy that was looking at my K boat last week and he kept looking at the tach that read over 8,000 RPM. That is the way the tach was when I bought the boat and just have not gotten around to finding the re set key.

Wayne.... Good information. They have a $100.00 minimum on orders but he said that he would just mail me a new key at "NO CHARGE"... Kool guy, and thanks for the information.....

My Jones "tattle-tale" tach does not require any kind of key to reset.
I has a small spring-loaded "reset" button on the side of the tach housing (about 2/3 of the way towards the back of the housing on the right-hand side)

One of my old Jones tach had the same button but this one needs a key. Don't know why they changed. Maybe they didn't want drivers lying to there crew chiefs... LOL
Wayne... Nice talking to you too and yes, Fed Ex does come to my house. I am out in the woods but not that far out...:D

Honestly I just took it easy to break it in. Kept the boat in the water, probably 5000 max. Damn that cant be right there is no way I turned it 7500. Or what we did when we thought the guy I was crewing for at the time was loafing it we put in a tell tale, then amazing he picked it up.

Steve,
I have a Jones tach w/ a key re-set too. I have been to many lock smiths only to have them say, "Hummmmmm, hever seen that before, Sorry" By any chance did you find out if there is a universal key or if they are all keyed differently?

I think that they guy said that they have only two keys, but maybe he meant that there were two different style of locks. Who knows but I will have a new key next week... If the boat is still here!:)
