View Full Version : September gathering.
Terrible toy

Since my comp motor is in a million pieces waiting for the heads to get back I spent the weekend working on my new (used) cruiser. The 97 degree heat here had me thinking of boating, skiing, and the much anticipated September get together.
The boat has a Holley 9083 and it's giving me probs... it apparently hasn't had fuel in it for a long time so all the rubber seals and pump diaphragms are dried out. Until I priced the little devils I was going to be lazy and buy a new one but a rebuild is now underway. When did stock carbs pass the 600 dollar mark?
About the upcoming Parker thing, I know it's a ways off but since it has been put at the top of my "to do" list I wanted to make sure I had my facts sorta straight. The core dates settled on were Sept. 20 to 23. Some camping areas have been suggested but none decided on. Most coming are camping and Warpt71 owes me a beer are things I'm pretty sure of.

Well you are pretty close. Warpt does ow you a beer. The date is finalized as the third full week of September or the 14-21. Most guys cant make the whole week so the weekend of the 20-21 is when most will show. There are two camp grounds selected as to where most will be camping. One is Echo Lodge and the other is Buckskin State Park. My buddy and I did some investigating this weekend and we will have more info in a day or two.

Thanks Louis,
I'll look up the sites for info and maybe take a cruise over before the summer crowd swarms in and take a closer look. I might even use the trip to see if my new tug floats.
For being as close to the river as I am I know little about it. I've skied Lake Mojave once, stayed at Needles Park Marina for a week skiing and once at Parker. I've raced NJBA events a bunch at Parker, but that's all the non race trips I've made.

We are planning for the 15-20. I even have my parents planning on making the trip. It should be fun to drag them there being that it is their fault I am addicted to this stuff. I can't thank them enough. They got to see Brad's boat once and they both decided that they have to see it run. My mom came home saying "that is what I want" in talking about his boat. Now I need to get back in the shop to make sure we will be ready come September.

Hmm wonder how much a flight out of Buffalo is. I would like to go. Maybe even get Mel to go, of course I dont think we would be bringing a boat down. I dont think a capsuled flat would fit all 3 of us anyways.

With the price of gas these days, a lot cheaper than driving, LOL..

Steve,
Your probably right but by September I'll be ready for a little vacation and hopefully have Carol's wish list almost complete and she'll let me go. We've come along way The house is 20 years old now and 4 kid raised in it, it's time for a complete redo. New HVAC system, LG washer&Dryer, new glassblock windows in the basement, all new 6 panel solid interior doors, every surface in the house has been repainted or polyurethaned, wall, ceilings even the closets. New closet organizer systems, main bathroom tub has been refinished and all new fixtures and hardware. 1000 sq ft of Bruce Barzilian Cherry flooring has been delivered for the halls and kitchen. once I finish getting that layed the carpet people can come in and put down 2000 sq ft of 78oz carpet Carol special ordered Saturday. New countertops will follow and we opted to have the oak kitchen cabinets refinished. New stove and dishwasher and that should complete the two main floors. Hopefully all I'll have left will be to turn a 4th bedroom into a large storage room some type of new flooring in that room and the game room. New furniture is all Carol !! I did get a new 46 in cut Garden Tractor!!! Now I'm just not sure if I'll be able to afford to put gas in it to cut the lawn about 4-5 gallons per cut. I can almost see the river !!

Just an aside to what Tim said about almost seeing the river. 97 degree heat, Paul driving his boat in shorts. Damn that must be nice, I could really use it this year. Our snow is gone, but lakes are still frozen another week or two. The first year my Dad had his Hurricane we went out on April 22 and 23. (Dont ask me why I remember this). We missed the ice by about a week or 10 days. You guys have it good down there.
