Weather has been so nice I had to go out for a run Thursday. Got up on a plane well. Everything smooth. Then i nailed the throttle up to 7100rpms. Set the lockout handle where i found optimum speed last year. Boat threw itself high on one side quickly. Prop free spun out of the water, so i quicky dropped the plate peddle while throttling down. I went back home, found out that the driver side tank strap (rear one) broke. Checked the Cav. plate with a straight edge. 1/8" drop on the ends. I retightened all the bolts and nuts this winter, so something might of changed. Looking for a optimum plate set-up on a single plate for a 1973 19' 6" Sanger ski at WOT.

Could you post a pic of your plate set-up. I have a 19' Sanger Skier and it has a 2 piece plate and no way of making it a one piece because of a slight V shape in the hull. Mine is an '80 model though.

That's an pretty violent reaction to get the prop out of the water. Without more information it would be hard to determine what' going on.

As far as the plate, I had an 18 ft. Charger ski boat with a flat plate and it was set up the same as all my runner bottom race boats. 1/8" up across except on the far right side where it was down an 1/8" from flat. I experimented a lot with minor changes, usually up, on the race boats but, didn't get much away from the 1/8" up setting. The engines in ski boats are generally back from those in racing flats. But, ski boats are usually much heavier so the plate settings come out close, at least in the boats I've had.
