This is a 241 cubic inch 4 cyl engine that I ran in K/AA. I doubt there will be much interest here, but thought I would throw it on anyway.

It's a Mercuriser Alum. block with a Ford "D" Prostock head. (the block has a Chevy bell housing bolt pattern)The head was built by Larry Olsen at EPD with titanium valves and T&D rockers. Comp cam, rollers, Smith push rods, MSD, Performance header, Moroso external oil pump, GRP rods, Venolia pistons, (15 to 1), complete custom made Kinsler injection. It has a Mercuriser crank that has been knife bladed and all custom machining and heat treating done. I have a spare block and crank that go with it.

Frankly, the engine did not perform up to expectations. It pulled the 1340lb altered shown 154 mph but the best et was only an 8.800. At the time an 8.0 would have been competitive. I think the ports actually flow too much and with work might work better. The index got bombed, so I decided I didn't want to put any more money in it.

It would make a great nostalgia race engine or, with much work, could be made into a wild street rod engine. (I thought about doing that) Maybe a sleeper engine in a 16 foot flat.:D

I'm only asking 5K for the whole thing including two spare valve, pistons 4cyl MSD box, belts and gaskets.

If interested email me at erwinwm@verizon.net

You have over five grand in the head, and that is before all the hardware (valves, springs, rockers and such). If you don't see any interest let me know and I will make a couple phone calls.

Thanks Paul,

You're right about the heads. The custom, one off, Kinslers cost a ton also. (they had to make a special mold for them from my drawings) If it was a small block Chevy I could get something for it. But, it's such an odd ball deal.

I ran an ad in National Dragster and got one serious response from, of all places, Puerto Rico. The guy was going to give me 10 for it but the whole deal fell apart because of shipping and other problems.

People are always looking for something different. My dad's building a '29 T bucket with a 32 front end from a kit. He decided to use a Ford motor from a mid 80"s T-bird, a 4 banger with a supercharger. Some guys have gotten 1200Hp out of these things...but whatever he gets will be alot in that light bucket.

Keep it out there, someone needs it.

I dont know the rules well enough, but check the apba site and see if it fits into a 2.5 mod. class. apba.org. Very cool motor. It doesnt matter whether it a 4,6, or 8. Its the engineering that makes them cool.

The APBA 2.5 mod rules allow engines from 155 cu in up to
166 cu in depending on motor configuration. The 240+ inch four
would be cool in an conventional E-Racing boat as the displacement
was limited to 246 cu in on methanol. It could probably damage
your eardrums.
It might also fit the APBA national mod (NM) class.

You are right about the ear drums. I've been told that it could be heard easily above the noise of any V8 I was racing. I know in running it in the pits it has a note and pitch all it's own. Being a 4 cyl it does vibrate a tad.
