Thanks for all the kind words and JJ the southern Okie lakes i plan on visiting as well, Thanks for the help offer i am sure i have alot to learn and will have questions with these v-drives, the rear cavitation plate and pedals i need to get a full understanding of. They are a whole different animal than my previous Allison and Gambler Boats.

Welcome Dry,

Nice flat you got... I got to visit Grand Lake and stay a few days in Grove while visiting my wife's folks. Wish I could move that 70 mile long lake to just outside my front window here in California.

Welcome dry! I'm the guy with the POS delaminating V-drive that poncho referred to :) I'm located in southwest Missouri and do quite a bit of fishing on grand lake. I haven't seen any v-drives running, but I usually only go to the twin bridges area (awesome catfishing!!). I've heard that sailboat bridge is a hot spot for jets and possibly some V-drives.

I appreciate the kind words, but to be truthful i have seen alot of much nicer boats than mine and i thought mine was a entry level compared to most i have seen. It looks good on the trailer i guess we will see if it even floats in the next couple of weeks:eek::D:eek:

enjoy the compliments for an entry level boat you did well the mechanical side can always be sraightened out but it looks like you have a nice foundation

But those "nicer" ones cost a hell of a lot more too, you're to damn picky:D:D just buff it out and use it, the thing looks great!..

This boat was supposebly restored by Miller Custom Boats in california in 92, so at least all the floors and stringers etc were all replaced and reglassed or what ever you call it, the floors and stringers etc are good. I like being able to see all the woodgrain thru all the resin. I think overall the boat is nice.

RiverRacer
04-09-2008, 05:50 AM
Well, if it was done by Miller it has to be first class and I can imagine what it looks like, some elbow grease and it'll probably look like new!..

Poncho, Yeah, took it out a few wks ago, the 9's made it a wild 1st ride form idle, I had like 1/2 travel on the plate, saw alot of deck:eek:
tried to buzz the prop, but w/ little plate travel, I got a Buzz:D got 1in. now!

I drop'd in a set of 15's, heading out Thurs. for hopefully an all-dayer, well, 20gallons any way I'll C how far that takes me:D

BTW, my Boat (1st Flatt) is a thrown 2gether POS, but, at-least I'm in the breeze, remember the polishing? No bling for me, had enough of that on the show bike:rolleyes:

Whew, a lill better now, I only C 2 sets of keys, not 5 on my key pad, glad we all have fun here.....Ok The Run, I'll say this, them tunnels w/ out chokes R some cold natured beast. Took awhile to C 140-50 on the water temp/220-30 on the oil, 3grand was about all the juice she'd take w/out a lill stumbling. once warmed up it was fine, but I do think I need a bigger Gph fuel pump. Ya all know I'm new to the flatts, and my acorns arent as big as most, more like Squirrel nutz, so stabing the loud peddle was on the top of my list!I hit it a few times from 2K to 5k, 4got the GPS, again, she did a lill dance, I droped the nose a lill and we were skimming across the river, but I still feel that washboard under the hull or the Chop from the prop, cant figure it outlast time I hit it, she made a God awfull scream threw 4 Grand ( 49.7< I had the gps this time) we both look'd at ea.other, like WTF was that, a quick scan of the guages, looks ok, what the....?
So I slid back to the ramp not able 2complete my mission, again:o only 2nd time out, and I figure it must B the Bling Bling Chrome pulleys that the scream came from, a lill belt slip, I'm gonna tear N2 the filter and have a look C if theres and alum/copper N there, but I bet it's the Bling:)
So w/a lill more seat time under my ass, confidence will come, The powervalves, 4.5 might get swapped out for 3.5's, in gear, just above idle the Manifold Vac is mayB 6, and I gotta do some peddle'n to keep'er from tip'n N the valves and load'n up.
but all in all it was good, I came back w/5gals. outta 20,
Art U lied:p U said I could go all wk.end on 20 at 2500;)
It's all good,

Dude you're replies are always in the middle of the night u some kinda vampire or sumthin?how were the new gears?i`ve always tried to get a nice cruise speed staying out the secondaries but running where the cam is working.sounds like you know what you're doin with carbs so i`m sure you`ll get that dialed,i spent a whole summer getting the stroker motor in my old jet boat dialed in but once it was went on to run for four summers trouble free and i hammered on the poor bastard,i would go to the lake after work for ten minute runs checking plugs and jettting accordingly, wife thought i was nuts but once the tune up was right i had the most reliable hot boat on the lake

Your welcome, when you reply to a post see the thing that looks like a chain link with a globe behind it? You click on that and it will bring up a box and you'll paste your youtube addres in there.

Same with pictures except use the one that looks like a yellow box with a mountain in it.

Basically I open up another window with my video or picture and copy the http: address at the top and paste that. If I didn't explain it clear enough post back and I'll try and do better.
