'Looking for anyone who has found a "generic" boat cover with decent fit and excellent storage protection for an 18' v-drive. There are lots of covers available on-line and from the box stores for the "pop-out" boats but I have not found anything yet for our vintage flats. Have you found one?
Thanks,
AquaCraft

I just bought a 18' flatty with a 427 bbc and I just bought one at walmart it fits 17-19 ft boats and i just use bungee cords to hold the cover down and it fits alot nicer than i thought, just my two cents and its trailerable, and i think it was $50.00 :D
click on this link and this is what i bought http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=2508683

Most all of those covers work good for keeping the elements out while storing it, or overnight at the river, nothing you'd want to tow with though!..

We have bought covers for BIG mid seventies town cars that would fit all the way over before. I would not try to tow with them though. It was not all that great for being outside, but it was cheap.

I have the same cover. It works great to keep the dust off while sitting in the garage. But outside or on the road you need something stronger. Mine is a 19' Sanger and it reaches from bow tip to cav plates. It has an elastic band around the edge that has kept it on even in the worst wind, while it was parked in the garage.

We bought two of the size "B" from wal-mart for the GlenL and
Mandella. They aren't really a good enough fit for highway speed
towing but are fine for storage. I had a local top guy narrow one
down and re-position the elastic for a better fit. I found that you
need to add some padding at wear points ( intake and headers).
I use 3 old bath towels.

I purchased a Walmart boat cover for my 18’ AquaCraft for around $80 thinking it would last a year or two. Well now its 9 years old and other then a little discoloration from the sun it’s still in great shape. Fits great and I have towed with it a few times with no problems (lots of straps to secure it). It’s been a good cover for the price.
